My songs with words

This is about how difficult it can be to let go of someone who is not right for you when you love them so much.

It was mixed by Gareth Metcalfe who is incredible please visit his website here. He has helped me a lot with my mixing skills. and would recommend him if you want to take my recordings of you to the next level.

This is a metaphorical song about someone struggling with drug addiction who is a famous musician to frightened to go on stage but the audience pushes him to sign though it kills him and feeds his habit. Meeting someone beautiful helps him resolve th issues and be able to sing again. It is my latest song Sept 24. Written, arranged mixed and mastered. sadly the mix file got corrupted so I can no longer edit it which is a shame but I believe everything happens for a reason

This was written in 2010 when as I sadly watched the economic downfall I thought the world might spiral into disaster. It sort of did. I thought would write how I felt about what is wrong with the world. In 2024 I still believe we could have walked a brighter path but this is not the place for political opinions. I have recently tried to improve my mixing skills by rerecording it. Something I have found when rerecording is sometimes the important nuances of the vocals are captured in the moment and cannot be replicated. I love parts of both versions but the most recent is definitely mixed with more knowledge. In 2010 I was 23 and now at 37 my voice has changed but I hope I’ve kept some of the originality. The original is the second track if you’d like to compare. It also may give you some insight into how far I have come regarding my recording and mixing

After my partner was sadly killed in a car crash 5 years ago I wrote this after 4 years had passed wandering what it may be like if we met again. Would he still love me? How would he feel that I met someone new? Also in the last two years i’ve left a job and moved to Cheshire. some many possibilities and changes that might not of happened. Covid! my goodness the things we forget how hugely impact out lives. All of that he missed and a small part just wants to be able to say goodbye to him as I never got the chance.

My Instrumentals

This song was written recently and mixed by myself. I’ve called it ebb and flow as it brings out the joy in a sometimes cloudy day. I feel at peace when I hear it. It is an example of music that could accompany film.

Down a well. What can I say. Inspired by drug addiction. The hope one has to find to pull yourself out. Yet the seemingly impossible task of achieving this. Down a well was originally called hope so I hope that brings some positivity to the song. Again. It is similar in that I use a lot of piano and strings but my ideal situation would be writing huge movie scores. Maybe one day!

I wrote this two days ago. It was fun to play with the articulations of the strings and add a beautifully fast piano to accompany it. Please enjoy. It is now used in the drone video at the bottom of this page feel freee to see it with the beautiful of flying around some viaducts with my skilled friend Craig Bennett using his Avata 2 drone.

A few unfinished songs maybe you could work on with me

The moment you drift off into the distance and wish you could fly. maybe far away maybe just to dream. Also the amount of reading between the line incorrectly explains me well.

This started as a joke but has a basis in reality. There may be a hint of expletives yet I hid it as much as I could. I still find it funny. Nothing wrong with a comedy song. It may be a small project for me.

Gareth Metcalfe as mentioned above told me to investigate articulations which in spired the short piece which I feel could be quite dramatic over the right piece of film. It is somewhat unfinished yet a worthy experiment.
